"Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind." - Bruce Lee

It is the flexibility and strength of the bamboo plant that made it the source of many bridges and elevated walkways for centuries. Writings referencing bamboo bridges as far back as the 3rd century BC describe the long standing structures. At present, America & France have endorsed & certified the construction of homes created completely out of bamboo as earthquake and cyclone resistant. We would like to think the imagery in our plate acknowledges the value of being both pliable and robust and a nice addition to your home decor.
