Octopus Odin Light Catcher
"Odin" is the second octopus in our collection.
In addition to the 8 arms everyone is familiar with, an octopus has 3 hearts which pumps blue-colored copper-rich blood making them pretty unique creatures. They are also masters of disguise with the ability to camouflage themselves with color changes mimicking their surroundings whether hunting or being hunted. Disappearing quickly behind a large cloud of blackish ink when threatened is also an octopus specialty. Not only does the ink trick provide a visual obstacle but it may mess with the predators sense of smell as well. While jet propulsion is handy for escapes, most of the time they travel by crawling along solid surfaces or swimming the seas. Odin would make a nice gift for an octopus fan or someone really good at getting out of sticky situations.
This repurposed glass was handtrimmed to 2.5" x 4.0".
LIGHT CATCHERS: Our glass has a unique way of handling light and the most popular way of seeing it is through our Light Catchers. With an almost endless collection of nature inspired designs, these squares and rectangles of repurposed window glass can fit in almost anywhere... a window, a porch, a mirror, even a tree. The glass is handcut to fit the original artwork, balanced on the handmade mold and then kiln fired for at least 9 hours. To finish the piece, it is hand drilled, secured to a silver swirl hook and then gift boxed. Ideal for collectors and those who appreciate the uncommon gift.
