Famed for their intelligence, the octopus has demonstrated short and long term memory through laboratory challenges such as mazes and problem solving plus identify shapes and sizes. While in captivity, they have been observed "playing" or entertaining themselves using light weight objects in aquarium water currents for a game of catch. And in the wild, a few tropical species have developed a new behavior of collecting broken coconut shells for protection & a traveling shelter. The octopus is considered the brightest and most teachable of all invertebrates making this light catcher a clever gift for a clever friend.

With an almost endless collection of nature inspired designs, these squares and rectangles of repurposed window glass can fit in almost anywhere... a window, a porch, a mirror, even a tree. The glass is handcut to fit the original artwork, balanced on the handmade mold and then kiln fired for at least 9 hours. To finish the piece, it is hand drilled, secured to a silver swirl hook and then gift boxed. Ideal for collectors and those who appreciate the uncommon gift.
